Poisons and their Effects

Regarding the descriptions of the individual poisons below, it should be noted that the prices, but also the durability and effect, can vary depending on the quality. The prices are for one portion and include the surcharge for buying from a fence for most prohibited substances. The code after the poison’s name indicates the level of the poison, as well as whether it is a weapon, ingestion, contact, or breath poison.


Fear Poison (Angstgift)

This magical weapon poison is made from Mandrake, berserk saliva, crypt dust, rabbit’s feet, and shark’s teeth. It does not physically harm the victims, instead causing them to panic and flee from the first creature they see after being poisoned.

Arachnae

A weapon poison distilled from a cave spider’s digestive secretion. Arachnae paralyzes slightly (AT/PA each -2) and is therefore often used for kidnappings.

Bane Dust (Bannstaub)

A very rare and special ingestible poison whose recipe is only known to a few magicians and initiates. It is made from amber, Kosh basalt, nitrol, summer solstice rooster eggshell, griffon feathers, iron powder, rainwater distilled by sun’s heat, salt, Brabak vitriol, gold, sun lynx urine and Praios flower petals.

Boabungaha

A very dangerous respiratory poison that the forest people and a few alchemists in the south know how to make. A tiny pinch is enough and the victim is doomed to die if help is not given as soon as possible, which is probably only possible by magic.

Dragon Spit (Drachenspeichel)

The heavy, greenish liquid is brewed from all sorts of unsavory ingredients (Unau brine, quicksilver, wolf rat dung, viper blood and much more). Since it is rarely fatal, it is one of the few legal poisons. The effect of this drug, which is widely used as an ingestion and weapon poison, varies depending on its quality. It is also used in trap hunting.

Fire Tongue (Feuerzunge)

Slightly sour tasting ingestion poison. This formerly rare, water-clear liquid is obtained from the bile of the fish of the same name, which lives in the southern seas and off the coast of Maraskan. Recently, however, particularly poisonous (level 6, 2d6 damage per hour) representatives of this species, which have ugly deformities, have been piling up in the bays of Maraskan.

Golden Glue (Goldleim)

The sap of the naftan plant can be processed into pale yellow, honey-tough gold glue, which also eats away at living tissue. Even small areas of skin affected by this contact poison can lead to serious damage. As a weapon poison, it does half the damage (rounded down).

Kukris

The poison is obtained from the Mirham silk liana, is deadly even for a troll and easy to handle (ingestion and weapon poison). Aventurian assassins also refer to kukris as “kingmaker”.

Purple Flash (Purpurblitz)

An odorless and tasteless water-soluble powder (which can be mixed with food as an ingestible poison) for the discerning assassins. Crimson Flash is made from crimson lotus, Marasque spines, Salzarel tran, cinnabar, and more. The victim often does not even know what is happening to him; the only symptoms of poisoning are purple mists before the eyes. Even an examination of the corpse (which is forbidden in many places) often does not provide any indication of the poison.
