Ardor Zitenau
Travia smile on you!
Travia smile on you, I’m Ardor Zitenau!
Any news?
There’s talk about a new haunting in the old watchtower at the harbour. But that needn’t mean anything, somebody’s always seeing ghosts there.
And what’s going on with the orcs?
Nothing! You don’t notice the orcs much since their warriors went away south with the big armies. The Holberkians are carrying on a lively trade with the blackpelts, so we’re well informed about their intentions here in Riva.
What do you think about the Holberkians personally?
They’re quiet and unassuming. Because of their trading links to the orcs, we’re kept informed of the blackpelts’ intentions. And as long as the Holberkians stay in the north of town, everything is all right.
What do you know about the rat-catcher?
Nothing, really! Xebbert keeps the sewers clean and the city free of rats. As that keeps him busy underneath the town all day, hardly anyone knows anything about him.
But there’s a lot of talk about the rat-catcher in town!
Maybe, but it’s nothing but rumors! After all, there’s no one else around when he’s out catching rats, so who would know what he does?
Have you heard about the strange creatures down in the sewers?
Sheer nonsense! That’s just a gimmick to hush up a murder. If anybody’s found dead with peculiar markings in this town, it was a strange creature from the sewers that did it. And nobody bothers to look for the real killer!
Could you tell us a bit about the pirates?
There’s not much to say about them, the success of those bandits draws shady customers from all around! At least there’ll be a bit of peace and quiet in Riva, if they ever manage to get rid of them, ‘cause they’ll catch all the other riff-raff at the same time!
Do you know something about the guild or the tradesmaster?
Now, tradesmaster Lothur Ui Chearghail’s sentencing was probably arbitrary. You can’t tell me, someone who’d build up an organization like the guild, would be stupid enough to get caught that easily - no way!
Do you know Tarik?
Tarik is well-known in town. - And not just since he’s been working for the judge. He used to be Riva’s most wanted thief and fraud.
What do you know about the city judge?
Well, there’s a lot of talk… His sentencing is harsh, but just, or rather it used to be. Not that it’s gotten any less harsh.
There’s also rumors that Bosper Jarnug swings both ways. It’s possible, of course. The landlord sighs:
I’ll have to be off, I’m afraid, the work won’t get done by itself…
