Paavian is a variety of the Bornland swamp rantzy, a carnivorous predatory ape species, found in the Duchy of Paavi. Unlike their southern relatives, Paavians are better adapted to survive in the harsh conditions of the north and are not even afraid of fires. There are unconfirmed cases of Paavians being used by humans as combat animals.
